As of Jan. 1, 2020 new owners will be taking over Brandon’s Nissan dealership.

Fowler Automotive Group, which is comprised of Fowler Hyundai and Fowler Autobody and Glass, has entered into an agreement to purchase Birchwood Nissan.

Rob Fowler, co-owner of the Fowler Automotive Group, told the Sun on Thursday that his company was interested in buying the dealership because they feel Nissan is a strong brand.

“We think there’s an opportunity to build on the success Birchwood has had here in Brandon,” he said. “They’ve increased the Nissan sales over the past three and a half years and we definitely think we can continue to build on that success.”

According to Fowler, the companies have spent the last three to four months working out the deal.

Birchwood Automotive Group is primarily based out of Winnipeg, operating 12 dealerships and two collision repair centres. They also operate a Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep-Ram dealership in Steinbach.

Fowler declined to comment on whether there would be changes coming to the dealership once they take over. He also said the company has no immediate plans for future expansion.
