Hey there, time traveller!

The City of Brandon announced on Monday that they are looking to reopen the Sportsplex pool on Sept. 27, barring any major delays or complications.
According to a news release from the city, the pool’s reopening will herald the return of a full slate of fall programming, including public swimming, lap swimming, Red Cross swim lessons and Aquafit.
The city originally made this announcement in its fall programming guide, which was released to the public this past Thursday.
However, city officials neglected to provide a specific reopening date at that time, with Parks and Recreation Services director Perry Roque telling the Sun on Friday that he expected the Sportsplex pool to be fully operational by “the end of September.”
The Sportsplex pool has been closed to the public since March 2020, around the time that COVID-19 cases began popping up across the province.
While city officials had planned to reopen the pool in the fall of last year, a third-party review conducted during the closure found problems with the facility’s water, air circulation and drainage systems.
However, Monday’s news release from the city states that construction is expected to be completed by mid-September, which will allow the pool to be properly refilled, reheated and inspected by Manitoba Public Health to ensure it complies with all regulations.
Anyone looking to find more information about the Sportsplex pool’s fall programming lineup can visit the city’s official website at brandon.ca/pool or brandon.ca/swimming-lessons.
