Soldiers from Canadian Forces Base Shilo have wrapped up their time standing guard outside the United Kingdom’s Royal residences.

From Oct. 4 until Friday, 90 soldiers with the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery made up the Queen’s Guard at Buckingham Palace, St. James’ Palace, Windsor Castle and the Tower of London. The soldiers guarded the residences and took part in mount and dismount ceremonies.

The visit was to commemorate the regiment’s 150th anniversary.

“This is an opportunity that created lifelong memories and experiences for all members involved. Not many soldiers in the Canadian Armed Forces can say they were part of the Queen’s Guard and it is such a privilege and honour to be able to serve Canada in this way,” said Master Warrant Officer Jason Power in a press release.

The deployment also included a visit from Queen Elizabeth II herself.
