MyPhone.ca announced on Thursday that its Telus corporate office located at 1417 Rosser Ave. will shut its doors on Dec. 15.

According to a news release from MyPhone, all staff working at this location will either transition to remote work on a permanent basis or work out of one of the company’s three remaining store locations in the area.

The remaining store locations are at Shoppers Mall, the Corral Centre and in Virden (493 King St. E).

MyPhone co-owner Samantha Falloon told the Sun on Friday afternoon that the closure of the corporate office is partially due to the company’s evolving business model, which has gradually changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We just found, over the last year and a half, that we became pretty remote organically with the pandemic.

“Half of the team is kind of in-and-out as it is; everyone has been working off of laptops for quite some time. So it just didn’t really make sense to have that space for us anymore.”

While this transition is underway, the company will continue to have representatives at the Rosser location until the closing date.

Even after the transition is completed, MyPhone’s IT company, Juggernaut Computers, will continue to operate out of the downtown office.

MyPhone’s head office has been stationed in downtown Brandon for around 15 years. The site has primarily served as a hub where the company’s administrative and business teams can operate. The surrounding locations in Brandon and Virden are more consumer-focused outlet stores.
