Medora’s Trent Sambrook and Jayden Jubenvill of Gilbert Plains have been rewarded for their play by the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
Sambrook — who is on the blue-line for the Winkler Flyers — was named the defenceman of the month for December, while Jubenville took home the rookie of the month award for his play on the Dauphin Kings backend.
Sambrook, who celebrated his 20th birthday Monday, had a goal and six assists in six contests last month.
The former Southwest Cougar is third in MJHL defensive scoring with 32 points — five goals and 27 assists — in 30 games.
Meanwhile, Jubenvill had two goals and three assists in six games for the Kings ahead of the Christmas break.
The 18-year-old, who spent three years with the Parkland Rangers U18 program before making the jump to the MJHL, has four goals and 15 assists in 29 games this season.
The league’s other award winners for December were Logan Calder of the Portage Terriers (player of the month), Will Hambley of the Steinbach Pistons (goalie of the month) and Nathan Driver of the Winnipeg Freeze (peak performer).
