• 50 YEARS AGO — John Dell notched a pair of goals for the winners as the Souris Elks moved into first place in the South West Hockey League with a 4-2 victory over the Pierson Bruins.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Lesia Stotts and Donna Kalynuk pumped in three goals each as Waterfront Waterbeds blanked the Brandon Eagles 12-0 in Brandon Ladies Broomball League play. Linda Ellerginton added two goals.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Derek Shamray notched a hat trick to lead the Blanchard Bobcats to a 9-4 thumping of the Rivers Whitehawks in North Central Hockey League action. Gord Paddock added two goals for Blanchard.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Ryan Marsh scored a power-play goal with 5:09 remaining to lift the Southwest Cougars past the Central Plains Capitals 5-4 in a Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League game. Darus Grey, Ashton Rome, Riley Lang and Paul Wallman also scored for the Cougars. Blair Cote, Dominic Dion, Corey Tanguay and Cody Vincent replied for the Capitals.
