Four Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School students walked away from last month’s Skills Manitoba trades and technology competition with a gold medal in their respective category, which means they have all qualified to represent Brandon on a national stage.
Now, students James Blyth (automobile technology), Faith Kasprick (job skills demonstration), Andres Rincon (cooking) and Wade Robbins (mechanical engineering CAD) are preparing to take part in the Skills Canada contest that’s taking place in Vancouver May 26-27.
A total of 11 Crocus students won medals at the 24th Skills Manitoba contest.

According to a recent news release from the Brandon School Division, the winners are:
• Alicia DeCosse (silver medal in baking)
• Darcy Jackson (silver medal in workplace safety)
• Sidak Kalra (silver medal in public speaking)
• Iza Loreto (silver medal in job skills demonstration)
• Diego Mejia Melendez (silver medal in cooking)
• Archi Patel (silver medal in job search)
• Hannah Leckie (bronze medal in photography)
The upcoming Skills Canada competition marks the first time organizers have been able to host this event in person since 2019.
