Jameson Plewes of Brandon won his age group at the Ironman World Championship in St. George, Utah on Saturday.

The 22-year-old finished the race in nine hours, 24 minutes 18 seconds to capture the title in the men’s 18-24 age group. He completed the 3.86-kilometre swim in 54:57, the 180.2-km bike in 5:09:17 and the 42.2 kilometre marathon run in 3:12:48.

More than 2,800 athletes representing more than 80 countries, regions and territories started the race, which was moved from its usual spot in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii due to the pandemic. The historic race is set to return to Hawaii in October.
