UPDATED at 7:45 p.m. Sunday

The search for Jordan Ross has been steady since he was reported missing Friday afternoon.

The pillar of Brandon’s skateboard and snowboarding community was last seen leaving his home around 8:15 a.m. Friday to do some work at the Grand Valley Provincial Park Campground, which he runs.

The 41-year-old’s vehicle was eventually located beside the bridge on the Trans-Canada Highway and Assiniboine River near the campground.

Since search organizers issued a call for help on social media, the party has been joined by Search and Rescue Manitoba, the RCMP, family, friends and volunteers, who have all been combing the surrounding land for clues.

Air and water rescue units have also been dispatched to search the area.

Ross’ disappearance has been a complete shock to the family, said family-friend and designated spokesperson Jaime Stouffer. There were no signs of distress or any indication that he was in danger leading up to his disappearance.

There was one informal search performed by concerned citizens, family and friends before search and rescue crews arrived, Stouffer said.

Since then, the RCMP has taken over the initiative and was co-ordinating grid searches of the grounds, as well as flying drones.

Everyone is still holding out hope he will be found safe, she said.

While the search and rescue crews resumed their operation Sunday, local authorities hadn’t provided any update on their progress in locating Ross as of 5:30 p.m. that day.

Ross is well-known in the city’s skateboarding and snowboarding scene. He co-owned the now-closed Senate Skate and Snow shop and was instrumental in the creation of the Kristopher Campbell Memorial Skate Plaza. He also ran snowboarding clinics at the campground and opened Tubin’ at Grand Valley Park last winter.

The 41-year-old is described as five-foot-10, 175 pounds and bald.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Blue Hills RCMP detachment at 204-726-7522.

Local police and search crews are still attempting to locate Jordan Ross, who was reported missing from his residence, situated near the Grand Valley Park campground, on Friday around 3:10 p.m.

Ross, 41, was last seen leaving his home around 8:15 a.m. Friday to do some work at the campground, according to a Saturday evening update from the Manitoba RCMP.

The 41-year-old’s vehicle was later found parked on the shoulder of Highway 1 near the Assiniboine River.

Throughout Friday evening, local volunteers combed the area on foot, while others took to the sky and the water using planes, helicopters and Zodiac boats.

The search expanded on Saturday, with groups like RCMP search and rescue, the Office of the Fire Commissioner and the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team taking part.

While Saturday’s ground search was called off around 7 p.m. due to excessive wind and heat, volunteer crews were scheduled to regroup around 9 a.m. today.

As of 10:50 a.m., local authorities haven’t provided any update on their progress in locating Ross.

Police describe Ross as being 5’10”, bald, having blue eyes and weighing 175 pounds. Police also believe that the 41-year-old left home wearing black ankle boots.

Anyone with information about Ross’ whereabouts is being asked to call the Blue Hills RCMP at 204-726-7519.
