Brandon will be down one post office as of the end of August.
On Tuesday, the Sun confirmed a report posted earlier this week by CTV Winnipeg stating that Canada Post intends to close its location in the 7-Eleven at the corner of 34th Street and Victoria Avenue on Aug. 31.
Notices of the closure can be found on the front door of the convenience store as well as at the post office inside.
In an email, Valérie Chartrand, a Canada Post media relations representative, said the closure is happening “for reasons beyond our control.”
She added that Canada Post is reaching out to customers who frequent the post office and people who rent postal boxes to inform them of the closure.
Canada Post is looking for another location willing to open a postal outlet and is advising residents that services will still be offered at the Brandon south post office at 1570 18th St., the Brandon main post office at 914 Douglas St., the Brandon east post office at 139 Victoria Ave. East, and the Brandon downtown post office at 725 Rosser Ave.
Anyone with questions is directed to call Canada Post’s customer service line at 1-866-607-6301.
The Sun contacted 7-Eleven for comment, but didn’t receive a response by press time.
