Therapy dogs and service dogs have different purposes. A therapy dog is trained to go into hospitals, care homes, schools and other settings to provide emotional support for all people. A service dog is trained to work with one person and their specific needs. Other members of the public do not have access to service dogs. Incomplete information appeared in the Sept. 26 edition of The Brandon Sun (“Therapy dog training making difference”).
