Manitobans are being encouraged to get immunized against COVID-19 and influenza as soon as possible.
Prairie Mountain Health will offer influenza and COVID vaccines starting Nov. 1 at various pop-up clinics around the region, according to a news release. The COVID vaccines will also include the recently approved bivalent booster vaccine for anyone over the age of 12 years who wants it.
In Brandon, vaccine clinics will be open in Shoppers Mall near Smitty’s Family Restaurant and Lounge every Thursday in November, from noon to 5 p.m., except Nov. 10, which will run from noon to 7 p.m.
There will also be clinics at the Brandon Friendship Centre on Nov. 8 and Nov. 22, from 1 to 5 p.m.
To make it easier for people to find out about the latest vaccine clinics, Prairie Mountain is providing more information online. To see a full list of upcoming listings, visit prairiemountainhealth.ca.
The health authority’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts will also post up-to-date messages with any changes and the latest news on clinics. There will also be advertisements on posters around communities, radio spots and newspaper ads.
Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be accepted, the news release stated. There are two ways to book an appointment: online at the Protect MB website at https://patient.petal-health.com/login?groupId=6032, or by calling toll-free at 1-844-626-8222. People only have to make one appointment to receive flu and COVID vaccines for the day they arrive.
Masks are required for all clinics, as well as the person’s Manitoba Health card. Wearing a short-sleeved shirt is recommended.
The COVID vaccine consent form can be found at https://www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/vaccine/resources.html.
