Hey there, time traveller!

Enns Brothers Ltd. announced on Friday that it has struck an agreement with S.H. Dayton Ltd. to acquire 100 per cent of the Shoal Lake-based business’ operating assets, with the deal expected to close by Wednesday.
S.H. Dayton Ltd. was founded in the Westman community of Newdale in 1961 and later opened a Shoal Lake location in 1979.
In February 1994, then-owner Jim Dayton sold the farming equipment dealership to Keith Martin, Peter Baydak and Calvin Harrison.
While these three men won’t remain in their current roles following the new deal with Enns Brothers, fellow S.H. Dayton veterans Dale Martin and Craig Geekie are planning to step up into leadership positions in their place.
“We know that Dale and Craig are the right stewards for the dealership in this community and that they will continue to build on the legacy of value and support that we have been providing for over 62 years,” S.H. Dayton Ltd. general manager Keith Martin said in Friday’s news release.
While Enns Brothers founders Jake and Harry Enns kick-started their farm equipment business near Winnipeg in 1953, the company has expanded over the years to establish dealerships in several Westman communities, including Melita, Neepawa and Brandon.
Enns Brothers acquired D.B. Murray Ltd. of Melita in the summer of 2015, making it the firm’s eighth John Deere dealership.
Meanwhile, the Brandon and Neepawa branches came to Enns Brothers through its merger with Countryside Equipment in 2008.
Because of this, Martin believes that both companies share a lot of the same values, making this merger a beneficial next step for its customers in the Shoal Lake area.
“We know that a visionary, multi-store operation like Enns Brothers has the depth of resources needed to ensure that the Shoal Lake leadership team can support our customers for the next 10 years and beyond,” the general manager said in Friday’s news release. “The timing is right for us to take this next step, and we are all excited for what this will mean for our customers now and in the future.”
Enns Brothers president Ray Bouchard shared Martin’s enthusiasm in Friday’s news release, believing that S.H. Dayton will add a lot of value to his much larger operation.
“By combining the exceptional customer experience that the Shoal Lake team is known for, with our innovative precision agriculture strategies and technical resources, we believe we can create even more value for customers in the region,” Bouchard said.
S.H. Dayton currently sells a wide selection of agricultural and lawn care equipment from major brands such as John Deere, Stihl, Westfield, Batco, Horst Wagons and Maxquip.
