Brandon Wheat Kings forward Nate Danielson was selected to the Western Hockey League East Division’s second all-star team on Tuesday.

WHL general managers voted for the all-star squads in each of the league’s four divisions.

The 18-year-old from Red Deer, Alta. led the Wheat Kings in scoring this season with 78 points — 33 goals and 45 assists — in 68 games.

He is expected to be selected in the first round of the NHL Draft in June.

In other news, the Wheat Kings will find out where they will pick in the first round of May’s WHL prospect and U.S. drafts as the league holds two lotteries.

Brandon is currently slotted to pick fifth overall in both drafts. It can move up to the third overall selection if it wins the prospect draft lottery.

The Wheat Kings will end up anywhere from first to sixth in the U.S. draft order as those slots go to the non-playoff teams.

That group includes the Edmonton Oil Kings, Prince Albert Raiders, Spokane Chiefs, Swift Current Broncos and Victoria Royals.
