Brandon man fined for illegal hunting
A Brandon man recived a $3,000 fine and one-year suspension of big game and game bird hunting privileges after he was previously convicted of illegal night hunting in November 2020. Manitoba Conservation officers from the Carberry district were on a patrol to target illegal night hunting when they observed a spotlight being used from a truck to illuminate privately owned fields near Holland. The man and a minor will arrested. The vehicle, spotlight, rifle, ammunition, and a wild boar were seized. In addition to the fine and suspension, all seizures including the vehicle were forfeited to the Crown. Charges against the minor were dropped.
Assault by choking
An 18 year old man has been charged after allegedly choking a woman on Wednesday. Brandon Police were called to an apartment, where their investigation revealed that the man allegedly assaulted the woman during an argument. The woman had minor injuries. The man was arrested on charged of assault by choking and assault. He will appear in court on Jun 1.
Doorbell damage
A 28 year old man has been charged with mischief after damaging a business’s doorbell camera when he wasn’t allowed inside. After the business in the 000 block of 13th Street denied the man entry on Thursday, he damaged their camera. He will appear in court on Jun 1.
Domestic assault
A 32-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman early Thursday morning. The man allegedly assaulted the woman at a home, where she sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention. The man was charged with assault and will appear in court on May 25.
Merchandise theft
A woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing merchandise from a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue Wednesday afternoon. The 49-year-old was arrested and found to also be wanted on a warrant for a charge of failing to comply with probation. She will appear in court on Jun 5.
Crimestoppers crime of the week
Gracie Hall is wanted by police for allegedly slapping her boyfriend across the face on Sept. 1 2022, as well as allegedly assaulting him with a weapon on a previous date.
Police are looking for a man who allegedly stole items from a business located in the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue on Mar. 6, 2023.
