An 18-year-old man has been arrested this afternoon in connection with a home invasion in Erickson Tuesday morning.

Mounties responded to a report of the home invasion on 2nd Street Northwest in Erickson around 1:55 a.m. on June 6.

A 30-year-old woman was transported to Winnipeg hospital with significant but non-life-threatening injuries, RCMP say. The male attacker fled the scene prior to police arrival. The woman claims to not know her attacker, though RCMP told the Sun that investigators cannot yet confirm conclusively that the attack was random.

The 18-year-old man, who is from Erickson, remains in police custody.

Mounties were searching for the man who was at large since Tuesday and stated in a press release this morning that RCMP did not believe there was a threat to the public.

Wasgaming RCMP, Major Crime Service and RCMP Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate.

Look for more details in tomorrow’s paper.
