Brandon Pride Week got off to a jubilant start on Sunday with a service at Knox United Church in the morning followed by a “Pooch Pride” gathering at the Riverbank Discovery Centre grounds in the afternoon.

The latter event gave members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies the opportunity to socialize alongside their favourite furry friends, setting the tone for the rest of the week where Brandon Pride is offering multiple activities every single day.

These events are as follows:

Monday

• The Untold History of Queer Persecution in the First World War (ACC East campus, 6 p.m.)

• 2SLGBTQ+ supportive parenting virtual workshop with SERC (6 p.m.)

Tuesday

• SERC Lunch and Learn about the history of Pride (Riverbank Discovery Centre, 12 p.m.)

• Pride in Solidarity, a conversation on activism and solidarity (Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium, 6 p.m.)

• Queer trivia with the House of Hex (Black Wheat Brewing, 6 p.m.)

Wednesday

•Flag raising and proclamation at Brandon City Hall (10 a.m.)

• Board game night (Bailey’s Café, 5 p.m.)

Thursday

• Drawing Drag sketch game (Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba, 6:30 p.m.)

• Queeraoke (Section 6 Brewing, 8 p.m.)

Friday

• Coffee and music (Chez Angela, 6:30 p.m.)

• Queerly Beloved Comedy Show, 18+ event (Lady of the Lake, 9 p.m.)

Saturday

• Rally at City Hall and Pride March to Rideau Park (12:30 p.m.)
