MINNEDOSA — A giant fleet of hard rock fans driving camper vans and RVs converged on rural Westman Friday to take part in Rockin’ the Fields of Minnedosa, with this music festival scheduled to run over the long weekend.
While the weather alternated between overcast and hazy conditions all day, the sun eventually came out as bands like Killer Dwarfs and The B34ST began performing in the early evening, getting the crowd hyped for followup acts like Kick Axe, L.A. Guns and Big Sugar.
Over the next two days, Rockin’ the Fields organizers are planning to showcase a variety of hard and classic rock bands from Canada and beyond, such as Sloan, Default, The Sheepdogs, The Glorious Sons, Aldo Nova and Lou Gramm.
Members of The B34ST, a Mexican rock band hailing from Puerto Vallarta, throw down on the Heritage Co-op Hilltop Stage during the first day of this year's Rockin' the Fields of Minnedosa festival.
Unfortunately, organizers announced on Friday that Nick Gilder and Sweeney Todd are no longer performing this Sunday due to a “sudden illness.”
However, Winnipeg-based rock band Harlequin have stepped up to fill Gilder’s spot and will be shredding at the PlayNow Main Stage starting at 6 p.m. Sunday.
