Arrested for driving stolen vehicle

A 34-year-old woman is contending with a number of serious charges after she allegedly stole an SUV and got involved in a chaotic chase with police while impaired.

The suspect originally popped up on police radar around 3:35 a.m. Saturday when officers were driving westbound in the 700 block of Princess Avenue.

The officers spotted a white SUV turn onto the road that began to travel the wrong way on the one-way street.

Despite missing a tire and running on a rim, the driver managed to elude police for a short time before ending up in a ditch near the Highway 110 intersection.

Police eventually contacted the real owner of the vehicle, who confirmed that the SUV was stolen just before the high-speed chase.

As a result, the 34-year-old driver is charged with public mischief, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, driving while prohibited and possession of property obtained by crime.
