The Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation put out a call on Thursday for interested parties to apply for the last $90,000 it has available to distribute from federal government program aimed at tackling homelessness.

The funds come from the Reaching Home program’s rural and remote funding streams, for which projects across all of Manitoba except in Winnipeg, Brandon, Thompson and First Nations communities can apply for.

Projects eligible for funding include those aiming to provide permanent housing for those who are temporarily housed, preventing people from experiencing homelessness, shelter diversion.

Not-for-profit, some for-profit and Indigenous organizations as well as municipalities are eligible to apply.

The BNRC has been distributing funds from the program since 2019. This series of funding will be the last before the program expires at the end of March 2024.

Applications for the first round of consideration for this final series is Oct. 6 at 4:30 p.m.

To apply or for more information, email co-ordinator Laura Wallis at reachinghome@bnrc.ca, calling 204-729-2490 ext. 106 or visiting bnrc.ca/reaching-home.
