Today is voting day in the Brandon School Division’s byelection for two vacancies on its board of trustees — one in urban Ward 1 and the other in rural Ward 2.
The following polling stations in Brandon are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for residents to cast ballots:
• Monterey Estates Recreation Hall, 40 Mockingbird Dr.
• McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church, 635 McDiarmid Dr.
• Victoria Inn, Salon 2, 3550 Victoria Ave.
• Shoppers Mall, Unit 22, 1570 18th St.
• Brandon School Division Administration Office, 1031 Sixth St.
• East End Community Centre, 405 Park St.
The following stations are open outside of Brandon:
• Alexander School, 102 Argyle St., RM of Alexander
• École O’Kelly School, T-101 St. Barbara Ave., CFB Shilo
• Brandon Hills Community Hall, 50159 Road 106W, RM of Cornwallis
For the benefit of residents of the Rideau Park, Fairview, Dinsdale, Hillcrest, Valleyview personal care homes and patients at the Brandon Regional Health Centre and Assiniboine Centre, mobile voting stations will be set up on site.
To vote, voters must be 18 years or older, a Canadian citizen and must have lived in the school division for at least six months as of election day.
They must also be able to provide one piece of government-issued photo identification or two other documents providing proof of identity and residence.
Eligible voters can vote at any of the above polling stations, but can only vote for candidates in the ward in which they reside.
Candidates in Ward 1 are Kirk Carr, Brad Rusnak, Quentin Derhak, Scott MacMillan, Bonnie-Lynn Mills, Sheri Miller, Kara Morrice and Breanne Bauche.
Ward 2 candidates are Lorraine McConnell and Henry Sieklicki.
Information on candidates is available at brandonvotes.ca, where results will be posted after the close of voting.
Coverage of the results will be available online at brandonsun.com and in the Friday edition of the newspaper.
