Sexual assault

A 40-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old at his home earlier this year.

In September, police received a report from a 17-year-old girl who had previously stayed overnight at an address on Woodhaven Drive. She told police that she awoke to the man touching her sexually.

Police arrested the man on Tuesday, and he will appear in court on Jan. 18 on a charge of sexual assault.

Mischief under $5,000

A 25-year-old man was arrested after allegedly smashing windows and carrying a hammer on First Street earlier this month.

On the afternoon of Nov. 5, police received a report of someone wearing a ski mask, smashing windows and carrying a hammer.

Police located the man but did not lay charges until Tuesday. The 25-year-old faces a charge of mischief under $5,000.

Foreigner to stop in Brandon

The jukebox heroes are bringing their farewell tour to the Wheat City in the new year.

The Keystone Centre announced Wednesday that Foreigner will be performing at Westoba Place on May 14, 2024 during the band’s final visit to Canada.

Foreigner has been active since 1976, recording such hits as “Juke Box Hero,” “Cold as Ice,” “I Want to Know What Love Is,” “Double Vision,” and “Feels Like the First Time.”

They’ll be joined on the Canadian tour by venerable Canadian rock band Headpins, performers of songs like “Just One More Time” and “Feel It (Feel my Body).”

As part of the tour, Foreigner will be continuing its partnership with the Grammy Museum Foundation in support of musical education in Canadian schools. The band will be partnering with radio stations in cities they’re visiting to run contests for high school choirs to come on stage and perform with the band, with the winning class receiving a donation to their program.

Tickets go on sale on Nov. 17 and can be purchased either online or at the Keystone Centre’s box office.
