Controlled substance
A 29-year-old woman from Carberry was arrested on Thursday after allegedly being found in the driver’s seat of a car under the influence of a drug.
Shortly after 11 a.m., police responded to a report of a woman who appeared to be passed out in the driver’s seat of a car in the zero-hundred block of Seventh Street.
Police believed she was under the influence of an illicit substance and was arrested for operation while impaired.
Following her arrest, she was also found to allegedly be in possession of methamphetamine.
She will appear in court on Nov. 27 on a charge of operation while impaired and on Jan. 11 on a charge of possessing a controlled substance.
Break-in to apartment
Police are looking for information about a break-in to an apartment building in the 500 block of Louise Avenue on Thursday.
Police say the suspect gained entry to the building by prying the door open just before midnight. Nothing appeared to have been taken.
Anyone with information about the break-in is encouraged to contact police at 204-729-2345.
Stolen car
Police are looking for more information about a 2015 black Kia Forte that was stolen from the 100 block of Industrial Drive on Thursday.
The car, with Manitoba licence plate HSH 422, was parked on Industrial Drive when it was stolen.
Anyone with information about the theft is encouraged to contact police at 204-729-2345.
Bull riders announce spring stop in Brandon
Whether you go for the cowboys or the nasty-tempered bucking bulls, you’ll get them both at the PBR Brandon Chute Out next spring.
The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Canada’s Cup Series for 2024 features the country’s top bull riding athletes and Brandon will be its third stop in the PBR’s cross-country schedule, for one night only, next May 25 at 7 p.m. There are nine total stops in the PBR 2024 season.
The PBR promises an exhilarating event, with their bull riding athletes trying to mount and ride 2,000-pound bulls with hot tempers and last eight whole seconds. PBR athlete Aaron Roy, from Yellow Grass, Sask., delivered two flawless eight-second rides to win the tour stop in Brandon last year. The event will be action packed, with many victories and wrecks. Blade Smith of Abbey, Sask., won the Brandon debut PBR event in 2022, also with two perfect eight-second rides.
