Hey there, time traveller!

Operation Red Nose (ORN) in Brandon is still looking for volunteer drivers, to make sure people who have been drinking or using recreational drugs get a safe ride home — and in their own car.
The first weekend of ORN had to be cancelled because of the lack of drivers, according to Frank McGwire, the organization’s media relations director.
To run a successful holiday campaign, they usually like to have about six teams of three people per night. Two people go with the owner and their vehicle, the third person follows in a pick-up car.
As part of the ORN regulations, each volunteer driver is required to fill out an application form and asked to complete a criminal record check.
Some people, McGwire said, may not realize that there is no charge to have a criminal record check done.
“Potential volunteers might be under the impression that they have to pay for the criminal record check, but they do not. When someone drops the form off at the Brandon Police Service station on 10th Street, they simply need to say they are volunteering with Operation Red Nose, and we are the ones who get billed — not the volunteer driver,” McGwire told the Sun.
To become a volunteer, application forms can be picked up at CAA Brandon, 305 18th St. North, from Murray Chevrolet Cadillac, 1500 Richmond Ave., or from Western Nations Gas Bar, 1725 18th St. North. Applicants need to drop off the criminal record check form, along with two pieces of photocopied identification — one that’s government issued with your picture — at BPS at 1020 Victoria Ave.
