• 40 YEARS AGO — Kerry Lowe netted a pair of goals to help the Hamiota Huskies edge the Elkhorn Canadians 4-3 in a South West Hockey League game. Cam Schweitzer and Brad Lyall also had goals for the Huskies.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Darren Ritchie, Chris Johnston, Marty Murray, Mark Kolesar and Chris Dingman all scored for the Brandon Wheat Kings as they beat the Prince Albert Raiders 5-3 in the WHL.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Tyler Dittmer scored a goal and had three assists as the Brandon Wheat Kings topped the Central Plains Capitals 5-1 Friday in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League. Taylor Langford, Brandon Lockerby, Joel Malchuk and Andrew Gurba also scored for the Wheat Kings, and Kurt Jory made 17 saves.
• 10 YEARS AGO — The Vincent Massey Vikings took three of a possible four in their first two games at a hockey tournament in California. Chipper Osiname scored the Vikings’ lone goal as they tied the Calgary Edge 1-1 Thursday in Anaheim. In their second game, Devin Shewchuk, Jace Mills and Sam Isfeld scored as the Vikings posted a 3-1 win over Bellarmine, from San Jose, Calif.
