Elkhorn Resort Spa and Conference Centre has invested more than $10 million in its new, expanded spa to pamper and delight guests.

The new facility, which combines the existing treatment rooms and mineral pool with a world-class Nordic Spa experience, has four additional new buildings and more than 1,700 square metres of outdoor space and rebranded the existing Solstice Spa under a new name: Klar So Nordic Spa.

“We are excited to be opening Klar So in time for the Christmas season so guests coming to the area can experience and appreciate winter in this new, amazing setting,” Elkhorn Resort general manager Chris Phillips said. “The Nordic Spa will be open 365 days a year and will offer ultimate relaxation in every season combined with the raw nature of Riding Mountain National Park.”

The development of Klar So Nordic Spa, he said, represents an investment of more than $10 million that will boost the local economy by creating jobs and driving increased tourism to the Riding Mountain National Park area.

The expanded facility, he said, boasts a series of hot, cold and temperate pools along with steam saunas, dry saunas and numerous outdoor relaxation areas for guests to experience the Thermal Cycle, adding it is the ancient Nordic practice of heat therapy that involves switching between hot and cold temperatures combined with a rest period.

He said thermotherapy offers health benefits for the mind, body and spirit, leaving visitors feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

“During your visit, take a moment to relish culinary delights at the Klar So Bistro, where you can savour lunch, and dinner, or indulge in handcrafted cocktails or signature coffee beverages,” he added.

Travel Manitoba lauded the contribution of Elkhorn Resort Spa and Conference Centre to the tourism industry in Clear Lake.

“This is a terrific addition to the attractions in Clear Lake,” Travel Manitoba president and chief executive officer Colin Ferguson said. “People love Clear Lake in the summer, and now they’ll have another great reason to visit in the winter also.”
