From a field of 64 teams coming from across the province, eight were crowned champions following four days of curling during the Wheat City Classic.

Playing out of the Brandon Curling and Riverview Curling Clubs, 32 women’s and 32 men’s teams played for the right to play in the finals on Sunday afternoon.

When the ice pebbles had settled, the following winners earned curling bragging rights on the men’s side

• A event: Tim Weber

• B event: Jason Orr

• C event: Chad Sahulka

• D event: Michael Mann

On the women’s side, the following foursomes were champions:

• A event: Michelle Klemick

• B event: Kristen McLellan

• C event: Janice Moffatt

• D event: Theresa Payette

Wheat City Classic organizer Michelle Klemick said it takes many volunteers to put on a major bonspiel using two different venues during four days of curling.

“It takes tremendous amount of work from our committee, volunteers and two clubs to make it possible,” she said.
