The federal postal service has restarted mail deliveries to homes in Brandon, Dauphin and Portage la Prairie after suspending services to those communities on Monday in the wake of an overnight blizzard.
Brandon has been downgraded to a “yellow delivery service” alert, meaning the postal carrier will try to deliver packages, but some addresses might not be reached because of ongoing icy conditions.
Canada Post issued a “red delivery service” alert on Monday in regions hardest hit by the snowstorm and a “yellow delivery service” alert for the rest of the province. On Tuesday, the provincewide alert was lifted.
“We encourage customers to clear the ice from their walkways, stairs and driveways to ensure safe access to the front door for both their visitors as well as their mail carriers,” a Canada Post news release stated.
