The City of Brandon has announced a significant partnership as McCain Foods Canada commits to a five-year agreement securing the naming rights for the cricket field at the Maple Leaf Foods Sports Complex.
The field will be recognized as McCain Cricket Field.
Diego Fernandes, plant manager at McCain, emphasized the company’s commitment to local communities, citing recent investments in facilities in Portage la Prairie and Carberry.
“The investments are testaments to our ongoing commitment to growers, employees and the communities in which we operate in Manitoba, and we are thrilled to extend to resources locally that will impact all residents in the region,” he said.
Under construction at First Street and Veterans Way, the Maple Leaf Foods Sports Complex will offer a range of amenities, including multiple soccer fields (including a FIFA-sized field), a cricket pitch, clubhouse and pathways spanning 3.6 kilometres.
With support from the federal and provincial governments, the project is slated for completion by early 2025.
