Hey there, time traveller!

As part of the Manitoba NDP’s first budget, to be unveiled later today, the Kinew government will fulfill a campaign promise made last year to help rebuild the Park Community Centre in Brandon, according to a leak provided to the Brandon Sun Tuesday morning.
During a campaign stop in Brandon in August of last year, NDP Leader Wab Kinew promised to rebuild the Park Community Centre with a new childcare facility, should he win government. The then-Opposition leader pledged to invest up to $1 million to demolish and rebuild the centre.
“This place is a valuable a community hub that we can’t afford to lose. Heather Stefanson and Len Isleifson have refused to step in and help, but a Manitoba NDP government will be different,” Kinew said at the time. “We will work with the city and the community to keep the charm and history of this special place while building a new structure that meets the needs of families today.”
Journalists in Winnipeg — and for the first time here in Brandon — will be in an embargoed government media lockup to view the budget documents prior to their release later this afternoon. Expect more on this story later today and in tomorrow’s paper.
