Below is a rundown of the hours of operation for some businesses and services in Brandon on Canada Day.

The Brandon Sun will not publish its regular Monday e-edition on July 1 and will resume publication of the print edition Tuesday, July 2.

CITY OF BRANDON

• Brandon City Hall (410 Ninth St.), the A.R. McDiarmid Civic Complex and Brandon Youth Centre (638 Princess Ave.), the Civic Services Complex (900 Richmond Ave. East), the Parks Complex (2020 McGregor Ave.), the Eastview Landfill (765 33rd St. East), the Brandon Community Sportsplex (30 Knowlton Dr.) will all be closed on Canada Day.

• The Brandon Municipal Cemetery will be open from dawn until dusk, but the office will be closed.

• Brandon Transit will offer hourly service from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., but the Transit Information Centre (21 Eighth St.) will be closed.

• After-hours and holiday public works emergencies can be reported by calling 204-729-2285.

• The City of Brandon is reminding residents that no one is allowed to purchase, fire, set off or ignite fireworks within municipal boundaries without a permit issued by the fire chief. Those purchasing fireworks at retailers in the city are required to sign a waiver stating they will not be used within the city. Violations of this bylaw can lead to fines of between $200 and $1,000.

GROCERY STORES

• The Real Canadian Superstore (920 Victoria Ave.) will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• Sobeys Extra Brandon South (1645 18th St.) and Sobeys Brandon West (3409 Victoria Ave.) will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

• The Co-op Marketplace (1035 Richmond Ave.) will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., though the pharmacy will be closed. Co-op gas bars in Brandon will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• The Walmart Supercentre in the Corral Centre will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• The Corral Centre Safeway will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

LIQUOR

• The Brandon South, Victoria Avenue, Corral Centre and West End Express Liquor Marts will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Keystone Beer Company (1865 Brandon Ave.) will be open from 10 a.m. until 11:55 p.m.

• Beer Warehouse (Victoria Inn, 3550 Victoria Ave.) will be open from noon until 6 p.m.

• The 40 (210 18th St.) will be open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on both Sunday and Monday.

MEDICAL CLINICS

• The Newmount Medical Walk-In Clinic will be closed.

PHARMACIES

There are too many pharmacies to list, so it’s best to contact the pharmacy of choice for its hours of operation. However, Brandon’s Shoppers Drug Marts are known for remaining open. The store at 139 Victoria Ave. East will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., while the one at Shoppers Mall will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

OTHER THINGS TO DO

• Shoppers Mall will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• The Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Weather permitting, pilots will be taking visitors on plane rides using the museum’s vintage aircraft. All sessions have already been booked, but visitors to the museum will be able to see the hangar doors open and the planes taxiing to the runway.

• Canada Day celebrations are taking place from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. at the Riverbank Discovery Centre. This will include a flyby from the air museum’s vintage aircraft at 1:20 p.m.
