For several decades, the agricultural societies of Oak River, Strathclair, Shoal Lake, Hamiota, Harding and Oak Lake have banded together for a week-long series of community fairs that takes place every July. Dubbed the Milk Run, these agricultural fairs showcase various equestrian and cattle events and demonstrations, baseball tournaments, local artists, and a variety of children's events to round out the days.

Dubbed the Milk Run, these agricultural fairs showcase various equestrian and cattle events and demonstrations, baseball tournaments, local artists, and a variety of children’s events to round out the days.

On Wednesday, Brandon Sun photographer Tim Smith travelled to Shoal Lake for the fourth day of local fair activity, and took in the miniature horse judging seven-and-under costume class competition, as well as other fair-day events.

The Milk Run continues this week with the Hamiota Agricultural Fair today, the Harding Agricultural Fair on Thursday July 19 and the 136th annual Oak Lake Fair on July 20.
