POSSESSING, ACCESSING CHILD PORN

A 28-year-old man has been charged with possessing and accessing child pornography after members of Brandon Police Service’s major crimes unit searched a residence on Fourth Street between Louise and Victoria avenues.

Police say the search warrant was executed Wednesday at 4:25 p.m. at a residence on the 400 block of Fourth Street.

When the 28-year-old man was arrested, police seized all his electronic devices. He was held in custody until his court appearance on Thursday.

TEEN PUNCHED SEVERAL TIMES

A 17-year-old girl has been charged with assault, after an 18-year-old woman was jumped by a female who was known to her, according to police.

Officers arrested the 17-year-old on Wednesday at 12:57 p.m. in the 700 block of Maryland Avenue.

Police say the victim was punched several times in the face, adding her injuries were non-life-threatening.

The girl was released with a court date of Jan. 28, 2025.

UNLAWFULLY IN A RESIDENCE

A man and a woman face charges after police responded to a call of a break and enter at a residence Wednesday morning.

Police say that when they arrived at a residence on the 200 block of 13th Street, they found two people inside, adding the residence was not secure.

A 37-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were arrested and charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling. Both were released, with the man required to appear in court Feb. 6, 2025 and the woman on Feb. 10.

DISOBEYED COURT ORDER

A 33-year-old man who tried to run away from police was charged with disobeying a court order.

On Wednesday at about 9:15 a.m., officers responded to a call about an unwanted person at a residence on the 500 block of Fifth Street.

When they arrived, officers discovered the man was under a court order not to be at that address.

According to police, there was a brief foot pursuit, but the 33-year-old man was eventually taken into custody. Charged with failing to comply with a release order, he was expected to appear in court Thursday.

POSSESSING BRASS KNUCKLES

A 46-year-old man faces a charge of possession of a weapon after police conducted a traffic stop downtown.

On Thursday at 2:11 a.m., police pulled over a vehicle in the first block of Seventh Street, between Pacific and Rosser avenues.

According to police, the 46-year-old man had open liquor and a set of brass knuckles. He was charged with possession of a weapon and released with a court date of Feb. 3, 2025.

POLICE BREAK UP DISTURBANCE

A 14-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman were found fighting with each other early Thursday morning.

At 2:28 a.m., police responded to the 1200 block of 10th Street for a report of a disturbance. When officers arrived, they say a 14-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman who were known to each other were intoxicated and being combative.

The girl was held in custody and released once sober. According to police, the woman was the subject of a warrant for failing to attend court. She was scheduled to be released Thursday morning with a Dec. 24 court date.

OUTSTANDING WARRANTS

Brandon police arrested multiple people on outstanding warrants on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday at 1:34 p.m., officers saw a 35-year-old man in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue who was known to have a warrant for breaching his probation.

He was arrested and held in custody for a court appearance on Thursday.

A 36-year-old man was arrested at a downtown business for an outstanding warrant in connection with possessing methamphetamine.

Officers said they arrested him on Wednesday at 11:37 p.m. while they were conducting a walk-through at a business in the first block of 10th Street.

According to police, he was the subject of an outstanding warrant for possession of methamphetamine. When officers searched the man, they say they found a large double-edged knife hidden in his waist band. He was released and given a court date of Jan. 23, 2025.

Shortly after 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, officers stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of 10th Street.

Police say the 30-year-old man who was in the passenger seat had an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with his probation.

He was arrested, released and given a court date of Jan. 23, 2025.
