More than 80 choristers will ring in the holiday season with a choir concert at a local church in Brandon on Friday.
The Prairie Blend men’s choir and the Bel Canto Community Choir will perform in the concert, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church located at 339-12 Street.
“That’s where a lot of choirs in town perform because the acoustics are outstanding,” said choir conductor Deanna Ginn. Speaking to the Sun in a phone call on Thursday, Ginn said the aim of the concert is to make the audience “warmed on a cold winter night.”

The choir concert will run for an hour and a half, with the tickets priced at $10. Thirty singers from the Prairie Blend choir, and 55 singers from the Bel Canto choir will perform throughout the show.
The choirs have been practicing for the concert since September.
Ginn said the community can expect some recognizable, and some new songs.
“We have traditional music, some music in different languages and a couple of community carol sing-alongs as part of the program,” she said. “They sound pretty spectacular actually.”
Musical accompaniments for the song recitals will include hand bells and percussion instruments.
Proceeds from the concert will be shared between the church and the prairie blend choir.
