THEFT UNDER $5,000
A 42-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were both arrested on Wednesday afternoon in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue after a store employee reported to police they were concealing items in the shop.
Police say when officers arrived on the scene, they executed an arrest warrant to apprehend the man who was wanted for a theft of under $5,000. He was ordered to appear in court on Jan. 13.

The woman received the same charge, and was given a court date of Feb. 27.
PROHIBITED DRIVING
A police traffic stop in the 1500 block of 18th Street Wednesday afternoon led to the apprehension of a 29-year-old who was allegedly operating a vehicle while prohibited from driving.
Police say they also found a knife and ammunition in the man’s possession, and seized the vehicle.
The suspect was ordered to appear in court on Thursday.
WOMAN ASSAULTED
Brandon police were informed Wednesday afternoon of a woman being assaulted in the 1000 block of Assiniboine Avenue.
Police report that the woman was struck by her boyfriend on Tuesday, then punched in her ribs by the same person on Wednesday.
Officers placed a 22-year-old man in custody while ensuring the safety of the woman, but later released him with a court date of Jan. 16.
BREACH OF PEACE
Brandon police responded to a pair of disturbances on Wednesday.
That afternoon, a woman reported that her 26-year-old son was disturbing the peace and wouldn’t exit her vehicle.
Police removed him from the car, and put him in a cell to calm down before they released him.
Then, in the evening, Brandon police were called to a disturbance at a home on the 500 block of Sixth Street. Officers arrested a 14-year-old boy who they placed in a cell to avoid further conflicts with his family.
Once he calmed down, the teen was released to a caregiver.
IMPAIRED DRIVING
A 32-year-old woman faces an impaired driving charge after a single-vehicle accident on Wednesday evening.
Police responded around 8:30 p.m. to a call about a vehicle hitting a snowbank at the corner of Fourth Street and Rosser Avenue.
According to a witness, the driver seemed intoxicated, and when officers arrived the 32-year-old woman in the car gave two breath samples that were twice the legal limit.
The woman’s car was towed and her licence was seized. After being detained, she was released with a court date of Dec. 23.
SUSPECT CAUGHT AFTER FOOT PURSUIT
On Wednesday night, Brandon police executed a person check of a 22-year-old man in the 100 block of 10th Street.
Officers had a warrant for the man’s arrest, but he began running from them. The man was placed in custody after a brief foot chase.
The suspect was later released to appear in court on Jan. 16.
