Hey there, time traveller!

On Monday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resigned.
I have said previously that I will never, ever vote for a non-humanitarian political party, such as a party believing in diminishing a people by way of promoting bigotry, dividing Canadians and by stripping away Canadians’ rights. This is genocide.
Unfortunately, the Liberals are 26 points behind the Conservatives in the polls, and the NDP are 30 back. Why? Several reasons. Although the Conservatives have immoral ideals, they do know what is ailing Canadians. Their attack is working.
They know Canadians don’t have confidence in Trudeau. He has no economic savvy either, based on the Liberals’ past 10-year track record. The Liberals don’t listen to Canadians. It shows. Canadians have economically not benefited for their faith put into the Liberals. All they have seen over the last 10 years is consistent weakness, incompetence and scandals.
They don’t see Chrystia Freeland as being any stronger a leader than Justin Trudeau. Therefore, she won’t be PM, either. The Conservatives are presenting her as an willing accomplice to the Liberals’ failure and for not opposing Trudeau sooner.
Jagmeet Singh, leader of the NDP, gave up his only playing card that he had, which is leveraging the Liberals for things to help Canadians who are currently struggling. He does not inspire confidence in Canadians either as a strong, charismatic and economically competent leader. Again, the Conservatives are presenting Singh as an accomplice to the current Canadian Liberal economic condition, instilling the belief in Canadians that Singh should have voted down the Liberals sooner.
The Conservatives know that Canadians are worried about Trump 2.0 and the impending recession that will ensue as a result. Not to mention Canadians are spooked about talk of an American acquisition of Canada. They see Pierre Poilievre as their answer to this.
Canadians are stressed, angry, busy, desperate and misinformed. The Conservatives are targeting this with solutions that aren’t solutions at all. Cuts, fear- and anger-mongering. Except that this won’t work to solve Canadians’ problems, either. Canadians just don’t know it. When has a government in Canadian history ever cut taxes? Never. Canadians are naive because of being busy, misinformed, angry, scared and desperate for change. The Conservative plan of attack is working, by targeting this aforementioned Canadian disposition.
Just look at the polls for the last year. Now that the Liberals are in the dog house, they have to overcome all of it. They need a real working economic plan to show Canadians that the government is listening to them. They need a charismatic and competent leader to restore and inspire confidence in that leader and the Liberal party. As it stands, the word “Liberal,” despite carrying out duties provincially or federally, will currently only result in swears and not confidence in Canadians until they make the aforementioned changes.
Sadly, too, the majority of Canadians are very bigoted. They won’t vote for anyone who isn’t white, male or straight. They won’t vote for the Liberal brand, either. Why? Donald Trump demands it. Canadians want a prime minister who meets with Donald Trump’s approval because they feel such a person has the best chance of appeasing him. Again, the Conservatives know this. Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives are telling Canadians exactly what they want to hear. And believe it when I say the Canadian Conservatives and Poilievre are affiliated with their American MAGA counterparts. You can see Poilievre and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith posing with people wearing straight pride shirts and denouncing the woke ideal, meaning they are anti-DEI, racist and anti-SOGI (sexual orientation and gender identity), anti-vaccine, etc. Tucker Carlson, Kevin Roberts, Donald Trump and Jordan Peterson all have photos together and some of them are with Danielle Smith and Poilievre. Legit news sources can verify all of this.
Well, what about Mark Carney as prime minister? Although he is a very talented economist, he has no personality that would inspire confidence in Canadians as a strong leader, capable of standing up to Trump. He is a Liberal, so Canadians won’t vote for him. They are fed up with Liberals and Donald Trump won’t approve. He has no political savvy, either. He is also a godparent to one of Chrystia Freeland’s children. She was deputy PM and finance minister to Trudeau. He has previously advised Trudeau on the economy, which has failed. Carney is being touted by the Conservatives as a contributor and cause of the current, poor Canadian economic condition. Guilt by association, just as with Freeland, Singh and Trudeau.
The polls will dramatically change in the Liberals’ favour if Carney runs for PM if he can become charismatic, listen and give Canadians a confident path forward economically and politically, but probably not enough to win the upcoming federal election. We can’t see the future. Lotteries are won regularly despite staggering odds. So never say never. Carney is widely unknown, untried and untested as an experienced political leader. Therefore, he instills no confidence as a proposed PM.
Regardless, please do not be the angry lion succumbing to the distracting chair being wielded by the Conservatives. For the lash of their inevitable and impending whip will be painfully much worse than that of any other elected federal party should they become government. If the Conservatives succeed, Poilievre has stated his intention to use the notwithstanding clause to take human rights away. No rights means no vote, which means no say. Poilievre is an authoritarian, you can be sure. His plan is all smoke and mirrors. Empty. The non-plan plan for the Canadian condition. Would you buy a house sight unseen? Would you drink water not knowing if it was toxic? Would you risk your freedom? Do your research. There is no excuse for being misinformed in this day and age. If you don’t vote, your dissatisfaction with the next government will be on you.
You will see in the upcoming months what Americans voted for. Chaos as a result of the crops that yield from the seeds sown that their votes have planted. Americans already regret their vote for Trump. They don’t realize half of what is coming as a result. Let’s hope it convinces Canadians what waits for them if they vote Conservative.
Humanitarianism yields a united front. Ensure your rights going forward first or you will have no say later and maybe never. It’s much easier to restore an economy than your rights and freedoms. There is no compromise on freedom. I choose to believe in you, not Pierre Poilievre and his authoritarian and divisive agenda. Please vote for a united Canada.
It’s time for Canadians to unite and build bridges between us by stealing bricks from Pierre Poilievre’s partisan walls.
WENDY FRIESEN
