Fifty-seven teams competed in the annual Wheat City Classic curling bonspiel this past weekend.
The three-day bonspiel saw 28 men’s teams and 29 women’s teams compete at both the Brandon Curling Club and Riverview Curling Club that featured on-ice action and off-ice camaraderie. The event’s celebrations included a social on both Friday and Saturday evening.
Theresa Payette and her team of Kelsey Crandall, Jennah Derksen and Kaitlyn Sahulka captured the women’s A-side crown, while Travis Taylor’s rink won the men’s A-side event, minus the team’s skip on Sunday who was not able to play due to illness.

Mark Anderson’s rink won the B-side over Nate Andrews’ rink, while Tim Weber won the C-side and Cory Lawson won the D-side.
Stacey Irwin’s rink won the ladies B-side while Emma Woike won the C-side and Katy Isaac won the D-side.
The finals were held at the Riverview Curling Club Sunday afternoon as work started at the Brandon Club to cover the ice for Ag Days, which gets underway today at the Keystone Centre.
