The province is set to announce the locations of two new Westman locations for Manitoba Agricultural Service Corporation (MASC) offices during the opening day of Manitoba Ag Days in Brandon today.
A Manitoba spokesperson told the Sun on Monday that the province will be announcing the locations of the new offices when Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew and Agriculture Minister Ron Kostyshyn attend the three-day event here in the Wheat City.
“I can’t tell you the location today, but they will be making that announcement tomorrow,” the spokesperson told the Sun.

In 2021, the provincial government under the Progressive Conservatives announced it would shutter 21 MASC offices across Manitoba, including 11 in western Manitoba. Currently, MASC offices remain open in Swan River, Dauphin, Neepawa, Brandon, Headingley, Killarney, Morden, Portage la Prairie, Steinbach and Arborg.
MASC is a Crown corporation of the Manitoba government with a mandate to support Manitoba farmers by providing agriculturally-related financial services, including lending, insurance and access to ag services.
The announcement will be one of many events that producers can look forward to at the Ag Days events this week at Brandon’s Keystone Centre.
There will be two main theatres hosting events this year for Ag Days, including the FCC Theatre, where canola growing and price outlooks will open morning presentations and discussions; and the MNP Theatre, where the politics of agriculture will be front and centre.
The latter will include a dignitaries address by Kinew, Kostyshyn, as well as an address by Brandon Mayor Jeff Fawcett and David Beaudin, the ag minister with the Manitoba Métis Federation.
Afternoon sessions at the FCC Theatre today will include the annual Crop Talk Panel, which includes specialists in crop production, entomology, and pulses, soybean and oilseed specialists from Manitoba Agriculture.
Be sure to take in the “Economic Outlook: Risks and Opportunities for Canadian Agriculture in 2025” presentation starting at 2:30 p.m.

And back in the MNP Hall, look for presentations on crop management called “Managing the Extreme,” along with talks on succession planning and spraying.
Manitoba Ag Days will run from Tuesday through Thursday.
