THEFT UNDER $5,000

A 37-year-old man was arrested on Thursday morning in the first block of Seventh Street after the Brandon Police Service (BPS) received a report of a man stealing $120 of meat from a store on the 900 block of Victoria Avenue.

Officers used security footage to locate the suspect, and he was temporarily held in a detention cell before being released with an undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 3.

BREACHING PROBATION, FAILING TO ATTEND COURT

Police arrested a 48-year-old woman on Thursday morning in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue following a pedestrian stop.

She was ultimately identified as an individual with warrants for breaching probation and failing to attend court.

Officers transported her to be held in a detention cell at BPS headquarters until she appeared in court.

RESISTING ARREST, IMPAIRED DRIVING

Police arrested a 30-year-old woman just after midnight on Friday after attempting to conduct a traffic stop near the 1000 block of Victoria Avenue because they suspected that the female driver was impaired.

Police report that after the vehicle in question pulled to the side of the road, it then took off going southbound at about 50 kilometres per hour without any effort to stop. Officers drove to the registered owner of the vehicle’s residence on the 700 block of 10th Street.

At that location, the driver exited the car and allegedly resisted her arrest. She failed the roadside approved screening device (ASD) test, and was issued a ticket for driving while under suspension.

After being held in a detention cell for a short time, she was eventually released with an appearance notice and a court date scheduled for Jan. 30.

VEHICULAR THEFT, IMPAIRED DRIVING, BREACH OF UNDERTAKING TERMS

A 26-year-old woman was arrested early Friday morning following a traffic stop conducted by officers in the 100 block of Sixth Street.

The woman was identified to be suspended from operating a motor vehicle, and she also failed a roadside sobriety test. She was driving a vehicle that she was previously accused of stealing from its registered owner in August 2024. The woman had conditions to not operate the vehicle without written consent from the male owner, and to not be within 100 metres of his residence.

Police held the woman in a detention cell until she could appear in court on Friday morning. The vehicle’s registered owner appeared in person at BPS headquarters on Friday morning to provide a statement.
