• 40 YEARS AGO — Rene Hunter and Blair Hopfner scored four goals each to pace the Ste. Rose Royals to a 12-4 thumping of the Neepawa Natives in South West Hockey League play.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Mike McEwen’s Crocus Plainsmen team won the Brandon high school boys curling championship by beating Vincent Massey’s Travis Gouldie 4-3 in an extra end.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Danny Johnston scored seven goals as the Foxwarren Falcons cruised to a 19-1 win over the Hamiota Huskies in the North Central Hockey League at Hamiota.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Brandonite Cassie Hawrysh finished up the Intercontinental Cup skeleton season in third place over the weekend. The 30-year-old Hawrysh locked up a top-three finish for the season by posting seventh and eighth-place performances at her home track in Calgary in Saturday and Sunday’s final two events on the eight-race circuit.
