The Brandon Wheat Kings split against a pair of Winnipeg opponents in U17 AAA Winnipeg Hockey League action at J&G Homes Arena on the weekend.

On Sunday afternoon, Urijah Moosetail made 36 saves but second-place Brandon (26-3-2) was blanked 4-0 by the first-place Bruins (26-0-3). Noah Cesmystruk stopped 30 shots for the shutout.

On Saturday evening, Kendrick Breemersch scored twice and Soren Milne, Maden Simard and Luke Krieser added singles as the Wheat Kings overcame 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to earn a 5-3 victory over the third-place Thrashers (15-11-2).

Will Paskaruk made 41 saves to keep the game close for the Thrashers, with Sawyer Wallin making 13 saves for the Wheat Kings.

The U17s have four regular season games remaining. They play once next weekend, visiting Winnipeg’s Gateway Recreation Centre to meet the Thrashers on Saturday at 8 p.m.
