The Vincent Massey Trojans dominated the Coffee Culture Java Jam all weekend.
Manitoba’s top-ranked AAAA varsity girls’ basketball team beat Brandon’s Vincent Massey Vikings 106-34 in Saturday’s final at Crocus Plains as MVP Lilly Vande Graaf and all-star Jennifer Edwards dropped 21 points each.
Jessie Sumner replied with 11 for Massey, earning an all-star nod along with Nicole Nnamani and Crocus’s Rebecca Alebiosu.
Plainsmen guard Grace Mohr-Clark received the event’s leadership award after planning Friday’s pep rally and skills competition.
The Plainsmen lost 50-41 to the Kelvin Clippers in the third-place game.
Selkirk beat Warren 76-52 for fifth, and Neelin downed Portage 52-30 for seventh.
In the JV event, MVP Libby McDonald led the River East Kodiaks to a 58-21 victory over the Plainsmen.
Kinsley Penner led Crocus with 14 points, while Plainsmen Courtney Giesbrecht and Mary Williams made the all-star team.
Warren topped St. Paul’s 51-35 for third, and Neelin defeated Selkirk 52-38 for fifth, starting the game with six players and finishing with just three.
