SUSPECT CHARGED WITH HAVING COLLAPSIBLE BATON
A 37-year-old man who was wanted for in connection with a domestic incident two months ago, was located by Brandon police officers on Thursday morning in the city’s downtown.
At 11:04 a.m., police spotted the man near the corner of Seventh Street and Pacific Avenue. They say when officers searched him, he had a collapsible baton. He was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and held in custody to appear in court Friday.
LOUD, INTOXICATED PEOPLE CAUSE DISTURBANCE
A report of two intoxicated people yelling at each other in the Green Acres area of the city sent police officers to Garwood Drive just after 11 p.m. on Thursday.
By the time officers arrived, one person had returned to their residence, while the other, a 23-year-old man was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself, police say.
Under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act, police were able to take the man into custody and hold him in a police station cell to be released in the morning.
SECURITY GUARD ASSAULTED
A 38-year-old woman was charged with assault after allegedly pushing and spitting on a security guard at the Town Centre on Thursday afternoon.
Security called police shortly after 4 p.m. Once at the downtown centre, officers located the suspect and charged her with assault. She was held in a detention cell to be released when sober and given a court date of April 24.
ARREST MADE AFTER REPORT OF MAN PICKING FIGHTS
On Thursday at 1:46 p.m. Brandon police received a call about a man acting irrationally, trying to fight people in the 600 block of Sixth St.
When officers arrived, they say a 34-year-old man was under the influence of drugs and charged him with breaching the peace. He was taken to a BPS detention cell and held overnight.
WANTED MAN FOUND
A 24-year-old man who was wanted by police was located at a residence in the city’s east end on Thursday afternoon.
At 1:45 p.m., officers went to a home in the 700 block of Percy Street. They say a 24-year-old man was the subject of an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with a previous release order. After the man was arrested, he was released and given a court day of April 24.
