Clair Merckx made 26 saves on Thursday evening as the Yellowhead Chiefs forced a deciding Game 5 in their Manitoba Female Hockey League U18 AAA quarterfinal playoff series with a 1-0 Game 4 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Presley Hodson scored the lone goal seven minutes 53 seconds into the second period with assists by Brooke Maxwell and Jordyn Veitch as the Chiefs evened up the series for a second time.
Wheat Kings goalie Shannon Hees made 20 saves.

Game 5 is at Shoal Lake Communiplex on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The road team has won all four games so far.
The other three series are all complete.
• The first-place Eastman Selects (27-2-3) swept the eighth-place Interlake Lightning (5-23-4). They finished the series with a 4-0 victory on Tuesday after winning the first two games 3-0 and 4-0.
• The second-place Winnipeg Avros (27-3-2) knocked the seventh-place Westman Wildcats (13-17-2) out of the post-season in four games with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday evening in Hartney.
Jaedyn Hoemsen had the lone goal for Westman, who received 36 saves from Indigo Stone.
Adriana Almeida stopped 44 shots at the other end. Winnipeg had 6-3 and 4-1 victories earlier in the series, while Westman staved off elimination with a 3-2 victory in Game 3.

• The third-place Winnipeg Ice (22-8-2) bounced the sixth-place Hawks (14-17-1) out of the playoffs in four games with a 4-0 win on Wednesday. The Hawks opened the series with a 2-1 victory but then fell 2-0 and 8-2 in the next two games.
