• 60 YEARS AGO — Bruce McTavish scored three goals to lead Cardale to an 8-4 triumph over McAuley and advance to the MAHA provincial Intermediate C final.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Dan Halldorson, a 22-year-old third-year golf professional, shot a one- under-par 71 on the Cypress Creek layout at Orlando, Fla., finishing tied for fourth overall in the competition in which 36 spots for the Orlando Open were available.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Denise Murray scored five goals and teammate Lauren Anderson had four as Brandon C and E Locksmiths pounded Goodlands 15-2 to win the Westman Girls’ Hockey League championship tournament. Jody Bright added three goals.
• 10 YEARS AGO — The Brandon University Bobcats have tapped into a Westman pipeline for their latest recruit. Gladstone native Chayse Warkentin, a six-foot-seven middle with the Brandon Volleyball Club last season, has signed a letter of intent to join BU’s men’s volleyball team next season.
