Theft of vehicle
Police say a 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with the theft of his partner’s car.
On Monday at about 7 p.m., officers were made aware that a car was stolen and located the suspect at 13th Street and Louise Avenue. The man was still in possession of the vehicle’s keys, said police. It was also determined that the man had been given a previous court order not to consume alcohol and to comply with a curfew.
Officers charged the man with theft under $5,000 and failure to comply with a release order. He was held overnight in a Brandon Police Service detention cell for a scheduled court appearance Tuesday morning.
Traffic stop leads to charges for pair
Two men — one who is 29 years old and the other 31 years of age — face charges after Brandon police conducted a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.
Officers stopped a vehicle in the first block of 27th Street at about 12:15 a.m. and said a 31-year-old man was wanted by Winnipeg Police Service on an outstanding warrant for assault. He was given a notice to appear in Winnipeg court on May 14.
According to police, the other person in the vehicle, the 29-year-old man, had broken a release order he had been given to obey curfew in the community of Ochre River, which is about 189 kilometres north of Brandon.
He was arrested and held in a BPS detention cell for a court appearance Tuesday morning.
Man removed from premises
Brandon police officers removed a 35-year-old man who was unwanted in an establishment in the first block of 13th Street on Monday morning.
Shortly after 9:50 a.m., police received a request to remove an intoxicated individual.
Officers said the man was co-operative and was taken to Brandon Police Service (BPS) headquarters to prevent further issues and be released once sober.
BPS executes RCMP warrant
Brandon police officers went to a residence on Fife Close in Brandon’s south end shortly before 8 a.m. Monday and arrested a 47-year-old man who was wanted by Headingley RCMP.
The man was the subject of an RCMP arrest warrant for break and enter, police said.
He was served the arrest warrant and released with an April 29 court date in Winnipeg.
Arrest warrants
A 49-year-old man who was wanted for theft under $5,000 was arrested early Tuesday while Brandon police officers were responding to call at a downtown residence.
On Tuesday at 1:27 a.m., officers were called to a residence on the 1100 block of Rosser Avenue to remove an individual who was not welcome there. When officers arrived, they said a 49-year-old man had an outstanding arrest warrant for theft. The man was removed from the residence and given a notice to appear in court May 26.
On Monday at 4:42 p.m., Brandon police officers were in a store on the 900 block of Victoria Avenue on an unrelated matter and said a security guard told them there was a theft in progress. According to police, a woman was found and arrested with $80 worth of merchandise. She was taken to BPS headquarters and later released with a promise to appear in court on May 12.
