Brandon’s Cayden Glover has been named a first-team all-star by the Manitoba Junior Hockey League and is up for one of the annual awards.

The 21-year-old Dauphin Kings forward, who has been out with an upper-body injury since January, has 33 goals and 26 assists in just 38 games.

Dauphin defenceman Naaman Hofer was also a first-team all-star.

The other first-team all-stars are forwards Miguel Bouvier (Northern Manitoba Blizzard) and Connor Paronuzzi (Steinbach Pistons), defenceman Isaiah Peters (Winkler Flyers) and goalie Liam Ernst (Winkler Flyers).

The second-team all-stars are forwards Cam Bullinger (Portage Terriers), Jayce Legaarden (Winkler Flyers) and Adam Vigfusson (Niverville Nighthawks), defencemen Noah Szabo (Dauphin Kings) and Parker Scherr (Portage Terriers), plus goalie Cole Sheffield (Dauphin Kings).

The all-rookie team includes forwards Koy Funk (Portage Terriers), Rohan Guevarra (Selkirk Steelers) and Kam Thomas (Winkler Flyers), defencemen Reece Gault (Steinbach Pistons), Maxime Lavoie (Winkler Flyers) and goalie Mitchell Kathler (Portage Terriers).

The nominees for the league awards are:

• Most valuable player: Miguel Bouvier (Northern Manitoba Blizzard); Liam Ernst (Winkler Flyers); Connor Paronuzzi (Steinbach Pistons). • Top defenceman: Naaman Hofer (Dauphin Kings); Isaiah Peters (Winkler Flyers); Parker Scherr (Portage Terriers).

• Top goaltender: Liam Ernst (Winkler Flyers); Mitchell Kathler (Portage Terriers); Cole Sheffield (Dauphin Kings).

• Top rookie: Reece Gault (Steinbach Pistons); Mitchell Kathler (Portage Terriers); Taye Timmerman (Northern Manitoba Blizzard)

• Playing ability and sportsmanship: Brody Beauchemin (Winkler Flyers); Miguel Bouvier (Northern Manitoba Blizzard), Cayden Glover (Dauphin Kings).

• Coach of the year: Paul Dyck (Steinbach Pistons); Matt Melo (Winkler Flyers); Blake Spiller (Portage Terriers).
