60 YEARS AGOMike Doig won the grand aggregate at a handicap pistol shoot on the arena range. Keith Elder finished second.

50 YEARS AGO Perry Robinson, Brandon University hockey Bobcats leading scorer during the 1974-75 season, headed the list of all-stars announced by the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Others were: John Goran, Larry Budinski, Brian Boyle and Grant Thomson.

40 YEARS AGO Bill Sutherland of Brandon scored a hole-in-one at Sunnyside Golf course. He used a three-wood on the 225-yard par-three hole. The feat was witnessed by playing partners Terry Lunan, Earl Bartley and Bob Jenkins.

30 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings dropped a 5-4 decision in the WHL’s East Division final against Prince Albert.

10 YEARS AGO — Even Tim McGauley didn’t see his remarkable season coming. On a team stacked with highly regarded NHL prospects, the undrafted 19-year-old from Wilcox, Sask. received the WHL’s nomination as a finalist for the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as its player of the year.
