BRANDON UNIVERSITY

Brandon University Vocal Institute’s Spring Serenade will take place on Tuesday at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. The concert will feature opera scenes and solo performances featuring BU voice majors in a program ranging from Mozart to modern. The students have been participating in a five-day intensive collaboration, led by renowned Swedish soprano Elin Romba and BU voice faculty. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., and tickets cost $20 at the door. BU students and Conservatory of Music students can attend at no charge.

Have you ever wondered about the history of “toy theatre”? Have you ever wanted to build your own? All your questions can be answered this summer through a series of workshops for ages 14 and up. Participants will build their own toy theatre in a series of sessions, beginning on Wednesday, from 6 to 9:30 p.m., and running until July 16. The workshop is free for BU students and $20 for materials for others. RSVP by emailing alysonedoyle@gmail.com.

Brandon Pride presents Drag History with Flora Hex on June 11, from 7 to 8:45 p.m., in the Gathering Space of the John E. Robbins Library. Come and learn the origins of the art form now known as drag, how it has developed through time, how it has changed the world and what might be next.

Mini University features eight weeks of summer camps for youth from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Mini U will begin for the summer on June 30. For more information, including the registration guide, visit MiniU.BrandonU.ca.
