A head-on collision on Highway 10 left two people dead and two with critical injuries on Tuesday.

Swan River RCMP responded to the crash about 1.5 kilometres north of Road 224 North at around 3:30 p.m.

Through an initial investigation, RCMP said it appeared that a vehicle heading south had veered over the centre line and collided with a suspected parked car facing north.

A 36-year-old man from Winnipeg and a 29-year-old man from Swan River who were travelling in the southbound vehicle were taken to the hospital with critical injuries, RCMP said in a news release Wednesday.

From the suspected parked vehicle, a 42-year-old man and 31-year-old woman were taken to the hospital, where they later died.

Swan River RCMP, the RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team and a traffic analyst continue to investigate.
